Kelly Clarkson was the American Dream's embodiment in winning American Idol's debut season. Clarkson conceived the notion that you could be from all over the world and become an international star. She also created something tangible that American viewers could cling to and, most importantly, go out and buy. Her debut album was an enormous success but after she switched to a different record label and gaining more control over her style, her second album became the top-selling album of any "American Idol" alumni. Her achievements include extensive touring performing, recording many Top Ten songs, publishing two multi-Platinum albums, as well as being mentored and co-writing the bulk of her tracks. Also, she's been awarded numerous distinctions. She was awarded 4 American Music Awards as well twelve Billboard Music Awards. Two Grammy Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards and two Grammy Awards. In the past, she's received 98 major award nominations, winning seventy of these.
